A few years ago, I took a plant dying class from one of our region's well renowned plant dyers. There was about 8 people in the class so we all got a lot of individual attention. In the process, you use two pieces of fabric, one is what will be the finished piece, and the other is the "blanket" that holds everything in place. In this case, the blanket ended up being SO pretty! This is a cotton felt the teacher got as a remnant from Remainder's, a sort of Restore for crafts. I took the piece and cut it in half and used it for both sides. The lining and wristlet are hand-dyed bedsheeting.
Because the fabric piece was just a bit smaller than my normal 10.5x8 bag, it's actually 9.75x6.25 and it can be used not only for notions but it's cute enough to carry as a small purse or to put anything else your heart desires in it. It has a detachable handle and is stabilized with interfacing so it feels very sturdy.
Hand wash and lay flat to dry. Smoke free/pet friendly.
