Each face mask is handmade using the fabrics, backings and tie cloth in my collection. Each mask is different and each is unique but all of the accordion-style masks have a three-layered fold design with a double-layered back pocket for a disposable filter to provide a safer coverage. Because that's really what it's all about, isn't it? Safe coverage? The muzzle-style masks have 2 layers and also a pocket for a filter.
The CDC suggests the use of either a blue shop paper towel, paper coffee filter, or a regular paper towel (in that order) and they also suggest you replace regularly (hourly, if you're in a high risk environment) and wash your mask regularly, and after you come in contact with foreign surfaces or people. But I encourage to get the most up-to-date info at the CDC's website.
Each of these handmade masks also have a removable pipe cleaner wire inserted in the nose-area for a tight fit to your face. There is an open slot on the top or side designed specifically to easily remove it for washing or replacement. We suggest you handwash with hot soapy water then hang dry each night for a fresh mask each day.
These masks are made from my collection of fabrics so if you choose a mask with ties know that they're always changing because bulk-cutting conserves every inch of fabric, because conserving is a rule I live by. The ties are ALWAYS upcycled from sheeting and other household textiles.
